Ashantee 1873-74, 1 clasp, Coomassie (2097 Pte. A. Keep, 2 Bn. 23 R.W. Fus. 1873-4) very fine £300-340

Albert Keep was born in Hagbourn, near Mallingford, Berkshire. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the 23rd Regiment at Reading on 26 November 1870, aged 19 years. With the regiment he served in Ashantee campaign 1873-74. It was on this campaign that his eyesight began to deteriorate and as a result, being found unfit for further service, he was discharged at Gibraltar on 30 January 1875. With copied service papers and roll extracts.
