Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Lucknow (Wm. Dalby, 3rd Bn. Rifle Bde.) official correction to ‘l’ in surname, nearly extremely fine £280-320

Two men with this name in the published roll of the 3rd Battalion Rifle Brigade awarded the Indian Mutiny Medal with clasp for Lucknow. One was killed in action at Fort Birwa, 21 October 1858; the other, listed as William Darby in some rolls, died on 13 June 1858 at Nawabgunge. Given that the above medal has a surname with a corrected letter ‘l’ suggests that the medal was awarded to the latter Dalby/Darby.
