Thomas Cleverley was born in King’s Somborne, near Stockbridge, Hampshire. A Carter by occupation and a member of the 3rd Battalion Hampshire Regiment, he attested for regular service with the regiment at Winchester on 26 January 1882, aged 19 years. With the regiment he served in the East Indies, March 1883-February 1888. Discharged on 25 January 1894. The above was his only medallic award. With copied service papers.
