Baudichon, half-length helmeted figure of worker in rubber plantation, holding a cup for rubber sap and a Dunlop Cord tyre, rev. Dunlop factory at Montluçon above a vignette of John Boyd Dunlop, 63mm (BM Acq. 1978-82, pl.34, 9; cf. DNW 44, 971). About extremely fine; in original inscribed maroon case of issue (£40-60)

John Boyd Dunlop (1840-1921), the Scottish inventor of the pneumatic tyre, started his business in 1888. The Montluçon factory opened on 29 September 1922
