Estimate: £30–£40

Victorinus (268-270), Antoninianus, Cologne, irregular barbarous issue, radiate bust right, blundered legend, rev. Pax standing left, 2.00gm (cf. RIC pp. 397-8). Small flan, very fine or better for issue (£30-40)

Victorinus came to the throne of the Romano-Gallic Empire after the death of Marius. He was a gifted soldier but also a sexual predator and his reign was cut short when an official, furious at Victorinus’ attempted seduction of his wife, took his life. Irregular coins of Victorinus are not common
