Tiberius (AD 14-37), Sestertius, 22-3, Rome, Tiberius seated left, feet on stool, holding patera and long sceptre, rev. sc, 26.94gm (RIC 48; BMC 70; Sear 1764). A little surface verdigris on obverse, about fine, reverse fine or better (£90-110)

The obverse type publicizes the measures undertaken by Tiberius to help relieve the plight of those cities in his Asian province which had been affected by the devastating earthquake of AD 17, centred near the city of Sardis
