Estimate: £30–£40

Miscellaneous, Electrotype: Edward IV, First reign, Quarter-Ryal, mm. rose/sun (356) [2]. As made (£30-40)

Provenance:
This piece, and those in the following 24 lots, were originally bought from Seaby in 1936 (
cf. Seaby Catalogue, 1936, p.54). The electrotypes, made in two halves, are of base metal which was given a ‘gold’ or ‘silver’ wash to appear similar to the originals; they were taken from original coins in the British Museum, and the reference numbers, engraved on the back of each half, correspond to those in Grueber’s Handbook of the Coins of Great Britain and Ireland. As each piece is in two halves, they can be shown together. Useful for display or educational purposes
