William Sands enlisted in the U.S. Navy at New York on 20 November 1887. Was received on board U.S.S. New York, from U.S.S. Vermont, on 21 November 1897. Discharged at New York on 30 September 1898. The U.S.S. New York was an armoured cruiser and Admiral Sampson’s flagship at the battle of Santiago, 3 July 1898. With a few copied service notes.
