19 South Africa Medals were awarded to the Stockenstroom Rifle Volunteers, all of them with the clasp for ‘1877-8-9’.

Two members of the unit were killed in action, the first of them at Morosi’s Stronghold on 16 August 1879 and the second at Muntyao’s Cave on 30 August 1879.
