H.M.S. Courageous, a Valiant-class nuclear submarine, carried out no less than four patrols during the Falklands War. Today she is a museum ship at Devonport; see www.hmscouragoeus.co.uk/html/the_boat.html for full details.

Roger “Taff” Morris was educated at Gwendraeth Grammar School and entered the Royal Navy in January 1976. Having then trained at H.M.S.
Dolphin and served in H.M. Submarine Dreadnought, he joined the Courageous, in which capacity he participated in four patrols during the Falklands War. His subsequent seagoing appointments included the Conqueror and Splendid and, on being promoted to Warrant Officer at the end of the 1980s, he served on the Sea Riding Staff of the Captain Submarine Sea Training 1989-92, and again from 1996-99 - the interim period being taken up by his appointment as an Assistant Warfare Officer on the Staff of the Captain, 1st and 3rd Submarine Squadrons. His final appointment was as Fleet Operations Room Manager at Northwood 2003-4.
