Daniel White was born in Sidmorton, Kingsclere, Southampton. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the 80th Regiment at Reading on 20 December 1854, aged 18 years. He served 16 months in the Cape of Good Hope and four years, three months in the East Indies. Attained the rank of Sergeant in October 1864 and was discharged at the termination of his second period of service on 29 January 1876. Was additionally awarded the Army L.S. & G.C. With copied service papers and roll extracts.
