John Andrews was born at Peterborough, Northamptonshire, circa 1796, a Slater by trade. He enlisted into the 1st Dragoon Guards in 1808 and was discharged in January 1817 in consequence of wounds received at Waterloo. He was admitted as an out-pensioner at Chelsea Hospital on 27 January 1817 due to ‘Imperfect use of the Rt. arm by a wound at Waterloo. Marks of wounds, one on Rt. side & one on Rt. arm.’ Sold with copied Chelsea Hospital entry (WO/120).
