Arthur Thomas Ayling was born in Stratford, Essex, lived in Leytonstone and enlisted at Stratford. Serving in the 1st (Service) Battalion Royal Guernsey Light Infantry, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 13 April 1918, aged 19 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial. He was the son of Arthur and Laura Ayling, of 222 Crownfield Road, Stratford, Essex. With copied casualty details.
