Three: Serjeant T. Jarman, 7th Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment, killed in action, at Orvillers, battle of the Somme, 7 July 1916

Thomas Jarman was born in Stratford-by-Bow, Essex and enlisted at Brighton on 31 August 1914. Serving with the Royal Sussex Regiment he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 22 December 1915. Serving with the 7th Battalion, he was killed in action at Orvillers, during the battle of the Somme, on 7 July 1916. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. With Soldier’s Small Book; portrait photograph of the recipient; slip to accompany the British War & Victory Medal, addressed to ‘Mrs E. Clarey, 146 Farfield Street, Mannington, Bradford’; fragmentary envelopes for medals and plaque; with copied m.i.c., service papers and casualty details.
