Private William Carter, Coldstream Guards, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 22 December 1914. Serving with the 1st Battalion he was killed in action near Bethune on 25 January 1915, aged 24 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial. He was the son of William and Sarah Carter, of 38 Charlton Street, Steyning, Sussex. With copied m.i.c. and casualty details.
