Albert Taylor was born and lived in Loddiswell, Devon and enlisted at Exeter. Serving in the 8th (Service) Battalion Devonshire Regiment, he entered France on 25 July 1915. He was killed in action on the first day of the battle of Loos, 25 September 1915, aged 19 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial. Albert Taylor was the son of Albert and Elizabeth J. Taylor, of Station Road, Loddiswell, Kingsbridge, Devon. With original identity disk, ‘7161 A. Taylor, Devon R. C.E.’ and copied m.i.c. and casualty details.

The 8th Battalion Devonshire Regiment lost 19 officers and 600 other ranks out of 750.
