Lance-Serjeant Alfred Seaman, 3rd Battalion Rifle Brigade, entered France on 10 September 1914. The 3/Rifles were placed in the 17th Infantry Brigade, 6th Division, in Pulteney’s III Army Corps. Caught up in the heavy fighting around Armentieres in late October. Then involved in the battles around Messines Ridge and Ypres. With copied m.i.c. - clasp confirmed.
