William Henry Williams enlisted on 6 February 1905. Serving with the 2nd Battalion York & Lancaster Regiment, he entered France on 9 September 1914. Served in the 16th Infantry Brigade, 6th Division, in Pulteney’s III Army Corps. Caught up in heavy fighting near Armentieres, south of the Lys River, at the end of October 1914. Williams was discharged due to wounds on 15 September 1915 and awarded the Silver War Badge (not with lot). With copied roll extract and m.i.c. - clasp confirmed.
