Private Sidney Wilson, 1st Battalion Shropshire Light Infantry, entered France on 10 September 1914. Served in the 16th Infantry Brigade, 6th Division, in Pulteney’s III Corps. The Corps took heavy losses on the Lys in October 1914. In November it was caught up in the fighting around Messines. Wilson was later transferred to the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Discharged with a Silver War Badge (not with lot). Post-war he lived at 162 Tamworth Street, Moss Side, Manchester. With copied m.i.c. - clasp confirmed.
