Charles Green enlisted on 19 August 1907. Serving with the 1st Battalion East Lancashire Regiment, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 22 August 1914. The battalion served in the 11th Infantry Brigade, 4th Division, in Puteney’s III Army Corps. The battalion served at Le Cateau and at Ploegsteert Wood. Green was discharged due to sickness on 21 July 1915 and awarded the Silver War Badge (not with lot). With copied roll extract and m.i.c. - clasp confirmed.
