Lance-Corporal Henry Griffiths, 1st Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 8 September 1914. Served in the 18th Infantry Brigade, 6th Division, in Puteney’s III Army Corps. They were on the left flank of the British line at La Bassee.

With card forwarding box for the Defence Medal, addressed to ‘Mr H. Griffiths, “Nedlands”, Stafford Road, Gnosall, Staffordshire.’ Also with copied m.i.c. - clasp confirmed.
