Frederick George Masters enlisted on 11 December 1911. Serving with the 1st Battalion Somerset Light Infantry, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 21 August 1914. He was admitted to the 20th Field Ambulance with a gunshot wound to the head on 2 July 1916; he was transferred to the 24th General Hospital on 3 July and thence to England. Recovering, he later served with the 2nd Battalion Hampshire Regiment. Discharged sick on 31 May 1918 and awarded the Silver War Badge (not with lot). With copied m.i.c. and other research - clasp confirmed.
