Edwin James Glass enlisted on 5 March 1913. Serving with the 1st Battalion Somerset Light Infantry, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 21 August 1914. Served in the 11th Infantry Brigade, 4th Division. The Somersets were on the left flank at Fontaine-au-Pire at Le Cateau. Later involved at Ploegsteert Wood in October 1914. Glass was discharged due to wounds on 6 June 1915 and awarded the Silver War Badge (not with lot). With copied roll extracts and m.i.c. - clasp confirmed
