Private John Buzzard, 2nd Battalion Suffolk Regiment, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 15 August 1914. Attached to the 14th Infantry Brigade, 5th Division, in Smith Dorrien’s II Army Corps. The Suffolks suffered badly at Le Cateau on 26 August 1914. Only about 100 managed to escape to St. Quentin. With copied m.i.c. - clasp confirmed.
