Private Albert Horace Musson, 1st Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 3 August 1914. Served in the 9th Infantry Brigade, 3rd Division, in Smith-Dorrien’s II Corps. At the Mons the 1st Lincolns and 2nd South Lancashire’s were hit at Frameries but held on against a mass German attack. Later involved in the fighting at Neuve Chapelle. In September they were near Montreuil. They were part of the drive towards the Aisne, which took them to Braisne. On 17 October the Lincolns were involved in a bayonet charge that resulted in the taking of Herlies, near La Bassee. Musson was later transferred to the H.S. Employment Company of the Lincolnshire Regiment. Later still he was transferred to the 1st Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment. With copied m.i.c. which shows his clasp was first issued, then cancelled, then issued again.
