Private Richard Baines, 1st Battalion Scots Guards, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 13 August 1914. Served in the 1st Guards Brigade, 1st Division, in Haig’s I Army Corps. By 12 November 1914 his battalion was reduced to 1 officer and 69 men. Later transferred to the Royal Engineers. With copied m.i.c.
