Private Edward H. R. Law, 12th Lancers, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 15 August 1914. Served in the 5th Cavalry Brigade in Allenby’s Cavalry Division. On 27 August during the retreat from Mons, the 5th Cavalry Brigade guarded the high ground near Etreux. On 28 August the 12th Lancers were involved in fierce fighting at Cerizy. Law later transferred to the R.A.S.C. With copied m.i.c. - clasp confirmed.
