A Second World War Italy operations M.M. group of six awarded to Corporal L. R. Jameson, Royal Army Medical Corps, who was decorated for his gallantry in 167 Field Ambulance at the crossing of the rivers Reno and Po in April 1945

Military Medal, G.VI.R. (7383241 Cpl. L. R. Jameson, R.A.M.C.); 1939-45 Star; Africa Star; Italy Star; Defence and War Medals 1939-45, the first with officially corrected rank, one or two edge bruises, otherwise good very fine (6) £700-900

M.M. London Gazette 13 December 1945. The original recommendation states:

‘Early on 6 April 1945, this N.C.O. was in charge of a relay stretcher bearer post under direct hostile observation on the road from Rice Factory to the River Reno in front of San Alberto, helping to clear casualties from the forward companies of 1st Battalion, London Irish Rifles and 9th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, till their R.A.Ps crossed the river late in the evening. During this period he handled his men with splendid coolness and ensured a smooth evacuation of casualties down this unswept and highly exposed road. Later he displayed outstanding power of leadership and dash in crossing the River Po to bring back casualties from the leading company of 9th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, thereby being easily the first in the R.A.M.C. of 5 Corps to cross this river. Throughout the whole period his conduct was beyond praise.’
