Volunteer Force Long Service (2), V.R. (38 Coy. Sjt. Maj. J. Willis, 1/Durm. Vol. Art.) engraved naming; another, E.VII.R. (2139 Sjt. J. A. Milnes, 2/W.R. of Y. R.G.A.) impressed naming, this mounted as worn, last with slight edge bruise, very fine and better (2) £120-160

John Willis was born in Durham c.1862/63. Employed as a Blacksmith, in the 1901 Census he was living at 63 Dene Street, Sunderland with his wife and four children and in 1911 was living at 18 Bancroft Terrace, Sunderland with the same. Awarded the Long Service Medal in A.O. October 1900. He died in Sunderland in 1937. With copied research.

James Arthur Milnes was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire in 1872. The 1911 Census lists him as a Bank Accountant living at 17 Duckworth Grove, Bradford with his wife and three children, plus servant. Served in the West Riding of Yorkshire R.G.A. Awarded the Long Service Medal in A.O. January 1909. With copied research.
