James Hayward ‘Harry’ Banton was born in Moffat, Dumfriesshire on 12 October 1930. He enlisted into the King’s Own Scottish Borderers at Edinburgh on 10 August 1950. Served with FARELF from 9 January 1951. He was killed in action in Korea on 22 May 1951. He was the son of Gertrude Banton, of 7 Well Street, Moffat.
