Private Walter William Clark, 2nd South African Infantry was present at the battle of Delville Wood. Subsequently wounded at Arras , 12 April 1917. With copied service papers and other research.

William Henry Jacobs, born in Rustenburg, Transvaal on 9 December 1896. Enlisted at Kimberley on 28 August 1915. With the 3rd S.A.I. he served in Egypt, January-April 1916, after which he was posted to France. Slightly wounded in action on 14 October 1916 and again, more seriously on 20 September when a gunshot wound to his right thigh tore away his muscle. Invalided to England, he was not deemed fit enough to return to the front again. With copied service papers.

Thomas Carr was an Electrician and Fitter from Wynberg, Capetown. Serving with the 4th South African Infantry he landed in France on 14 August 1916. He had suffered an accident while working in Capetown during 1914 - while working with a screwdriver, it had slipped and torn his right eye. The damage to his eye was exacerbated by the conditions on the Western Front, and not being able to sight a rifle or see well in bright light, was deemed ‘wounded in action’. As a result he was discharged on 7 July 1917 and awarded the Silver War Badge. With copied service papers.
