Pair: Second Lieutenant A. H. Hughes, North Staffordshire Regiment

British War and Victory Medals (2 Lieut.) contained in a fitted wooden case; together with cap badge, buttons (5), collar badges (2) and ‘pips (4) all contained in a fitted leather case, extremely fine (14) £100-140

Alfred Henry Hughes was born in Wolverhampton on 17 October 1884. Educated at Wolverhampton, he was employed in the Accounts Department of Staffordshire County Council, living at St. Aldwyn’s, Risingbrook, Stafford. He attested for the Territorial Force at Stafford on 1 July 1915, joining the 3/6th North Staffordshire Regiment as a Private. He attained the rank of Company Quartermaster Sergeant in June 1916 before being discharged to a commission on 28 February 1917. Serving with the 2/5th North Staffordshire Regiment in France, he was invalided home in December 1917 due to trench fever. With copied service papers.
