Private Hamilton Thorpe, 1st Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 20 May 1915. He died of accidental injuries in Egypt on 1 June 1916, aged 36 years, and was buried in the Alexandria (Hadra) War Memorial Cemetery. He was the husband of Mary Flood (formerly Thorpe), of 3 Caledonian Road, Edinburgh. It is recorded that he had previously served in the Boer War. Soldiers Died in the Great War records that he died in Salonika. With copied casualty details and m.i.c.

William Jones enlisted on 25 January 1917. He was discharged from the 5th Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders on 2 April 1918 and awarded the Silver War Badge. With copied roll extract.
