Richard Cowie was born in and enlisted at Dundee. Serving in the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 4 October 1915. Serving with the 10th Battalion he was killed in action at Delville Wood, 18 July 1916. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. With an original postcard photograph of the recipient and copied casualty details and m.i.c. - this showing entitlement to 1914-15 Star.
