Four: Corporal G. Edmonds, 11th Hussars

George Edmonds, a Musician, attested for the 11th Hussars at London on 18 March 1895, aged 15 years, 2 months. Served as a Boy before being ranked as a Bandsman in July 1897 and Trumpeter in January 1899. Promoted to Lance-Corporal in September 1906 and Corporal in October 1912. With the regiment he served in India, September 1895-October 1899; Egypt, October 1899-April 1903. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in 1913. During the Great War he served in France, 10 August-9 October 1914. Later served with the Royal Irish Fusiliers and Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Served once more in France, December 1916-October 1917, this service being terminated by a gunshot wound to the face and shoulder on 9 October 1917 which resulted in his return to England. From the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment he elected to draw pension in February 1918. With copied service papers, m.i.c. and other research, including photocopied photograph of the recipient and of ‘Delamore’ below.

Private Christopher Delamore, ‘C’ Squadron 11th Hussars entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 15 August 1914. He was wounded in action at Wulverghem on 2 November 1914. Later served in the Royal Irish Fusiliers, Royal Warwickshire Regiment and Life Guards. With copied research.
