Hugh Ward was born near Maryhill, Lanarkshire on 16 February 1911. A Caulker by occupation, he enlisted into the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders on 7 June 1932. Transferred to Section “B’ Reserve in June 1939 but rejoined the Regular Army in August 1939. Transferred to the Corps of Military Police in June 1940 before returning to his parent regiment once more in October 1940. Released to Class ‘Z’ Reserve on 4 March 1946 and discharged on 16 February 1956.

Sold with original (damaged) Soldier’s Service Book; transmission slip and remains of card box of issue for Second War medals; and a full-length copied photograph of recipient in uniform.
