Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, 2 clasps, The Nile 1884-85, Kirbekan (831. Driv: Ali Efsai.) good very fine £200-250

The Official History of the Sudan Campaign (Vol. 2 p.104) includes in the British strength at Kirbekan, 5 officers and 42 other ranks of the Egyptian Camel Corps.

General Brackenbury’s despatch of 13 February 1885 concludes: ‘... the plucky conduct of the Camel Corps, who had two killed and one wounded, and who killed several of the enemy, was the subject of universal comment after the action.’
