Indian Mutiny 1857-59, no clasp (John Tobin, 64th Regt.) edge bruising, contact marks, good fine £200-250

John Tobin was born in Ballyhay, near Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the 64th Regiment at Kilkenny on 30 October 1846, aged 19 years. With the regiment he served in India for 12 years, 4 months and in Persia for 1 year. He was discharged at his own request to a pension after 21 years service at Parkhurst, Isle of Wight, on 7 September 1867. At the time of his discharge he was in possession of 4 Good Conduct Badges; the L.S. & G.C. Medal (awarded with a gratuity of £5 in June 1867); and India General Service Medal with clasp for ‘Persia’ and an Indian Mutiny Medal, without clasp. His intended place of residence was stated to be Cardiff, Wales. With copied discharge papers and roll extract for the Indian Mutiny Medal.
