Army of India 1799-1826, 1 clasp, Bhurtpoor (Gunner R. Park, Arty.) short hyphen reverse, officially impressed naming, edge bruising, contact marks, nearly very fine £800-900

Robert Park came from Renfrew. A Tide Waiter by occupation, he enlisted for unlimited service in the East India Company’s Artillery, at London on 14/15 December 1821, aged 23 years. He joined the E.I.C. recruit depot at Brompton Barracks, Chatham on 19 December 1821 and was allocated to Bengal. Embarking for India on the Duchess of Athol on 17 January 1822, he arrived at Calcutta on 6 July 1822. Posted as a Rough Rider in the 1st Troop 2nd Brigade Bengal Horse Artillery. Promoted to Sub-Conductor in the Bengal Ordnance Commissariat Department on 22 March 1845. Advanced to Conductor on 10 February 1849, he died at Agra on 6 May 1850. With copied service notes and roll extract which states that the medal was, ‘Sent to Capt. Sinclair 12 Dec. 1851’.
