Alfred M. Warren was born at Laurium, Michigan, on 19 October 1923. Served in the Second World War with the 142nd Infantry, serving in ‘Naples Foggia Rome Arno So. France Rhineland Central Europe’. Listed as being wounded in action Naples Foggia, January 1944. Being discharged after the war, he re-enlisted in 1949 and saw extensive service with the military until discharged from the U.S.A.F. Reserve in 1978.

original award documents for the Air Medal (Second Oak Leaf Cluster), as a Technical Sergeant, for services, 19 February -22 March 1968 - note emblem not on medal ribbon; and Air Force Commendation Medal, as Master Sergeant, for services 27 May-30 November 1970 - note medal is not in the above group; together with original Honorable Discharge Certificate, as a Master Sergeant in the U.S.A.F.R., dated 1 January 1978. The Air Medal and Discharge documents and Commendation and citation documents are held in two plastic folders.

Air Force Commendation Medal citation: ‘Master Sergeant Alfred M. Warren distinguished himself by meritorious service while assigned as a Special Assistant to the Base Senior Airman Advisor, Base Administrative Division, 22nd Combat Support Group, March Air Force Base, California, from 27 May 1970 to 30 November 1970. During this period, Sergeant Warren consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities in the performance of his duty. His innate management ability and insistence upon professionalism were important contributing factors to the mission effectiveness of his organisation. The distinctive accomplishments of Sergeant Warren culminate a distinguished career in the service of his country, and reflect credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.’

With some original service papers and others copied; an identity wrist band, ‘Alfred Warren 36823726’; ‘Gold Star’ lapel badge, in card box; white metal token inscribed, ‘A. M. Warren 125 Osceola St.’; plus riband bar; four cloth and three metal badges/insignia for display purposes.
