Bronze Star, awarded for the Rhineland Campaign, dated 4 June 1945.

Air Medal, awarded in General Orders No. 39 of 17 May 1945. ‘Troy B. Hammons, 01182130, 1st Lieutenant, Field Artillery, 884th FA Battalion, from 8 February to 20 March 1945, in France and Germany. Entered military service from San Jon, New Mexico.’

Troy Brough Hammons was born in Berryville, Arkansas on 29 March 1916. As a 1st Lieutenant serving with the 884th Field Artillery in N.W. Europe during the last months of the Second World War he earned the Bronze Star and first of his Air Medals. In the Korean War, employed as a Pilot, he was awarded the D.F.C. and oak leaf cluster and a further ten oak leaf clusters to his Air Medal. Also awarded the U.S. Presidential and Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citations.

With a folder containing a quantity of copied research, including award certificates, flight records and other service papers. With a photograph of the recipient. Also with Presidential Unit Citation Bar and Korea Presidential Unit Citation Bar; Sharpshooter’s Badge for Pistol and Rifle and Marksman’s Badge for Carbine; Senior Aviator’s Badge, rank insignia; one other cloth and a metal badge and name plate - these all for display purposes.
