An original R.A.F. Log Book and related documentation appertaining to Flight Lieutenant N. S. Paterson, Royal Air Force, who qualified in bomb disposal in the last war and later served in the Royal Air Force Regiment, comprising R.A.F. Navigator’s, Air Bombers and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book (Form 1767 type), with a few training entries for the period April-August 1944, but with opening endorsements for completion of ‘No. 24 Special Bomb Disposal Course’ at ‘E’ Squadron, Doncaster in August 1944, and a refresher course that October, together with a quantity of related career documentation, including training notes and M.O.D. letter on his retirement in January 1967, and his embroidered R.A.F. Bomb Disposal uniform flash, generally in good condition (Lot) £100-120

Norman Steel Paterson, who was born in January 1922, enlisted in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve in March 1942, and appears to have been trained as an armourer. A Corporal by early 1944, he attended two Bomb Disposal courses before the year’s end and was commissioned as a Pilot Officer in the Royal Air Force Regiment in July 1946. Having then witnessed active service in Palestine, he was advanced to Flight Lieutenant in November 1953 and placed on the Retired List in January 1967.
