Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society, Marine Medal, 3rd type, bronze (To William Davies for Meritorious Service 17th Oct. 1922) lacking suspension, attempted erasure of naming - this very faint in places, edge bruising, fine; Medal for Life Saving, 35mm., silver, obverse heraldic shield, reverse inscribed, ‘Good Conduct Medal, Walter Orme 1885’ (For Saving the Life of T. Edwards in Alexandria Harbour Egypt) with ornate silver brooch bar, edge bruising, about very fine; Royal Society for the Protection of Life from Fire, Certificate, awarded to ‘Henry Richard Short in testimony of prompt and efficient aid rendered by him at a Fire on the 31st day of August 1896 at 25 Glynn Street, Vauxhall’, mounted on card, 307 x 250mm., this in good condition (3) £140-180

‘Bronze Medal and Certificate of Thanks to William Davies, for bravely rescuing a man immersed in the No. 1 Alexandra Dock, between a ship and the quay, on October 27th.’ (ref. 84th Annual Report of the Liverpool Shipwreck & Humane Society). With copied extract.

Henry Richard Short, a Coal Hawker, was awarded the Society’s Certificate and £1.1s.0d. for rescuing Charles Stacey, aged 2 years, from the lodging house at 25 Glynn Street, Vauxhall, on 31 August 1896. With copied extract from the annual report 1897.
