Private George Smedley, 7th Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment, entered the Balkan theatre of war prior to 1 January 1916. Discharged to Class ‘Z’ Reserve on 30 August 1919; died on 28 June 1921, aged 23 years. He was buried in Tamworth Cemetery.

Richard Henry Linton was born in and enlisted at Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Serving with the 2/6th Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 22 April 1917. With copied service papers and war diary extracts.

Lewis Fidley was born and lived in Burslem, Staffordshire and enlisted at Stoke-on-Trent. Serving with the 7th Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment, he entered Gallipoli on 2 July 1915 and was killed in action on 23 July 1915.

William H. Wheawell was born in and enlisted at Longton, Staffordshire. He entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 10 September 1914. Awarded the 1914 Star with clasp. He was killed in action on 20 December 1914. His name is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial.
