Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Modder River, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Transvaal (3803 Pte. S. Brown, A. & S. Highrs.) good very fine £100-140

Samuel Brown was born in Dundee. A Dresser by occupation, he attested for the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders at Kirkcaldy on 29 September 1890, aged 19 years. With the 1st Battalion he served in India, September 1893-March 1898. For his services he was awarded the I.G.S. 1895 with clasp for Punjab Frontier 1897-98. Posted to the 2nd Battalion in September 1893, he was transferred to the Army Reserve in April 1898. Recalled to the Colours in October 1899, he served in South Africa, October 1899-August 1902. Finally discharged on 28 September 1902. With copied roll extract and service papers.
