Defence and War Medals, unnamed; Efficiency Medal, G.VI.R., 1st issue, Territorial, with Second Award Bar (Lt, RA) mounted for display, some contact marks, very fine (3) £60-80

Captain Charles William Jones (182777) was a pre-war N.C.O. in the 288th (Howitzer) Battery, 72nd (Northumbrian) Field Regiment R.A. (T.A.), headquartered at Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant R.A. (Emergency) on 19 April 1941; advanced to War Substantive Lieutenant, 1 October 1942; and Temporary Captain, 14 October 1942. Efficiency Medal (Territorial) and 1st Clasp as Lieutenant (Hon Captain) (Retired), London Gazette 26 Mar 1991.

With the booklet, Simple Mathematics for Gunner Officers, by J. C. S. Hymans, M.A., this inscribed in pencil, ‘Sjt Jones 288 Battery’.
