Seven: Private R. Blake, Gloucestershire Regiment, late Queen’s Royal Regiment and Royal Fusiliers

Raymond Blake was born on 12 June 1921 and enlisted into the Queen’s Royal Regiment at London on 25 May 1939. During the war he served in North Africa and Italy, May 1942-February 1944, being transferred to the Royal Fusiliers in February 1944. Blake returned home in December 1945 and was discharged in August the following year. He rejoined the Army in August 1950 and was posted to the Gloucestershire Regiment, serving in Korea, 1 October 1950-30 January 1952. After a few months in Japan he returned home and took his discharge from the Queen’s Royal Regiment on 7 June 1952.

With original Regular Army Certificate of Service; Soldier’s Release Book Class “A”; card boxes of issue for the Korea medals; National Registration Identity Card belonging to Dorothy E. Blake, of 84 Hazelwick Road, Three Bridges, Sussex, and two photographs (one damaged).
