With copied m.i.c. to Arthur E. Henson which confirms the award of the British War Medal only. On it he is listed as a Private in the 28th London Regiment; 2nd Lieutenant in the Gordon Highlanders and Captain in the Northamptonshire Yeomanry (R.A.C.). A lengthy note on the m.i.c. reads:

‘Applicant claims to have been included in draft to France in March 1918, after a few days at Le Havre to have been recalled for cadet course. Produced certificate from No. 62256 R. H. M. not to be issued unless an officer of his own unit can certify that he was posted to France.’

2nd Lieutenant Charles Arthur Edward Henson, Royal Armoured Corps, late Gordons, was appointed Captain on 22 May 1939 (
London Gazette 28 July 1939). Captain C. A. E. Henson, R.A.C. (T.A.) was appointed Captain in the General List, 10 September 1940 (London Gazette 18 October 1940). Major C.A.E.
