Four: Air Mechanic 1st Class R. Mills, Royal Air Force, late Welsh Regiment

1914-15 Star (15407 Pte., Welsh R.); British War and Victory Medals (127258 1 A.M., R.A.F.); Defence Medal, unnamed, good very fine and better (6) £50-70

Private R. Mills, Welsh Regiment, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 2 September 1915. He was later transferred to the Royal Air Force, serving as an Air Mechanic Class 1.

With privately engraved identity disk, ‘R. T. Mills 15407 R.A.F. C of E’, reverse inscribed, ‘Con’, 26mm. dia., silver, hallmarks for Birmingham 1916; damaged ‘Welsh Regiment’ cap badge; photographs (35) of the recipient and others, mainly military; Cardiff Gas and Light Company identity card named to Reginald Thomas Mills; another, named to Joseph Thomas Reginald Mills, as Assistant Foreman Gasfitter; National Registration Identity Card named to Thomas R. Mills and a handwritten poem, ‘The Riding Master’s Victim’. With copied m.i.c. and sundry ribbons
