Three: Private D. Norris, 16th Battalion, Australian Imperial Force, a Gallipoli veteran who was taken P.O.W. in France in April 1917

1914-15 Star (1848 Pte. D. Norris, 16/Bn. A.I.F.); British War and Victory Medals (1848 Pte. D. Norris, 16/Bn. A.I.F.), slightly bent suspension ring on the last, otherwise good very fine (3) £180-220

Daniel Norris, who was born in Liverpool in December 1895, enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force at Blackboy Hill, Western Australia, in January 1915, and was posted to the 16th Battalion, A.I.F. Embarked for Gallipoli in April 1915, he saw action in that theatre of war up until being hospitalised in Malta on account of sickness in July. Rejoining his unit in September, he was once more evacuated on account of sickness that October, this time to Mudros.

In June 1916, the Battalion was embarked for England and thence for France and, although recurring sickness necessitated Norris being hospitalised in September-October of the same year, he undoubtedly saw further action, not least in the attack on Bullecourt in April 1917, when he was taken P.O.W. He was demobilised back in Australia in January 1920; sold with copied service record.
